I’m a MT rookie and planning to deploy MT router on our network. We have been using Microsoft ISA server but since getting to know about MT, i felt we should use it rather than ISA.
The MT will be used as a router, firewall, VPN with Active Directory Authentication, etc. The network also includes a wireless hotspot.
Which RouterBoard will be most appropriate for our network of about 100 computers and serving the afore mention function?
Your feeling is wrong. Seriously, if you replace an ISA with a Mikrotik you have no idea what you are talking about. BOTH have strenghs and weaknesses.
Firewall: ISA can authenticate transparently the user (with a local installed application), Mikrotik can not. ISA can handle reverse proxy scenarios for a public website with URL rewriting and authentication passthrough, Mikrotik can not.
Router: Mikrotik can handle BGP, ISA can not. Mikrotik can handle QoS, ISA not.
They both serve different roles. I use Mikrotik and TMG (the successor of ISA - since more than a year) and I could NOT throw one out.
