Which RouterBoard?

Over the last few years I’ve upgraded from various RouterBoards to my current RouterBoard 751G-2HnD.

I now have the luxury of having a bonded fibre connection (2x80Mb) bonded to a single 160Mb.

I have found that the 751G-2HnD will choke with 100% CPU use around 13.5MB/s. Testing each line separately, they can achieve around 9MB/s when unbonded and the 751G-2HnD doesn’t hit 100% CPU usage.

What model of RouterBoard would give me the throughput I assume the bonded connection can handle, 18MB/s?

I’d require dual WAN and gigabit LAN. I would also prefer to have wireless N, although I can add this separately.

Would I be better to build an x86 solution with RouterBoard OS?

Cost is not an issue.

Get the 1200 and you will be set for a long time to come.

You can use your 751 for wireless only and the 1200 for all other needs.

Another option would be the 2011 series.

Wait for the CCR1036

Warning: You might be waiting a while if past history repeats itself again.
