Hardware needed: VoIP phone (or a gateway that can translate an analogue phone to VoIP - RouterOS does not do this natively) and a VoIP server. RouterOS is not a VoIP server. You may be able to virtualize one using metarouter (http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Metarouter).
ok, but how do i attach the phone to routerboard? it doesnt have any port(connector) for phones as far as i know.
If i am using skype or voipdiscount, do i also need to run a server?
Or does skype and voipdiscount have their own server running?
sorry i dont understand this things very well
thank you
edit:
can you give me an example with a link to the hardware which i would need, this would help me to understand.
RouterOS is a router / firewall OS … it doesnt provide VoIP servers or proxies.
An analogue or USB phone? You can’t. IP phones, you simply plug the RJ45 cable into one of the sockets on the board (and configure the phone to talk to whichever SIP/H.323/IAX server you want).
It’s a bit like saying “I want to use this car for flying - where do I fit the propeller?”.
Correct (excepting IP phones, as above).
No.
Yes.
For Skype, you need a PC and an audio device (sound card, handset etc.). For SIP/H.323/IAX, you need an IP phone.

so whats the use of mikrotik router then? if i need a pc handset etc..
I can use skype with a pc and headset etc., without mikrotik router.
MT routers have nothing to do with VoIP other than that VoIP is data traffic that MTs can route, just like they can route other traffic.
