To whom would I send a possible bug/issue to regarding the VIA VT6105 and 10/100Mbit connectivity to?
This [ongoing] issue seems to stem from loss of connection when the two VIA VT6105 NICs are set to 10Mbit Full Duplex and an amount of traffic in excess of 1Mbit is passed. I have tested this issue at my lab by setting the NICs to this speed and from my workstation, sent a 605 MB file through it to a server at ~3.5Mbit - 4.5Mbit [according to Winbox interface statistics]. I also pinged the far side server from my workstation to detect packet loss.
Here are some results:
@ 100Mbit Full Duplex [no auto negotiation]
Packets sent: 1247
Packets recievedL 1241
Packets lost: 6
% packet lost: 0 {<1%]
@ 10Mbit Full Duplex [no auto negotiation]
Packets sent: 1932
Packets recievedL 1866
Packets lost: 66
% packet lost: 3
Even though 3% loss is not significant, I have seen this as great as 35-50%.
All help is greatly appreciated.
