Hello,
I’m not understanding an aspect of IP addressing. I can connect to my devices via either Winbox (using the MAC) or a browser using the IP. But in Winbox, no IP address is shown for the device. Just trying to understand why not?
Here is what I see in Winbox:

Here is how I’ve bound the IP address:

Thanks!
Are you sure the two devices are in the same VLAN? Can you access the device via that IP? What if you set the IP to the real LAN?
I’m positive I can access the device via that IP, however my workstation is on a different VLAN.
All traffic on the network is tagged, with nothing running on the ‘default’ VLAN.
That seems to be the cause then.
Even though you can access the router, you’re accessing it by layer 3 (i.e. there’s a routing decision involved, not just switching decision). The Neighbors tab shows devices accessible via layer 2, so the VLANs need to be the same.
Simple question…when using winbox, are you connecting through LAN interface?
