Why I am not using WinBox!

I may be some old, and that is the reason why I am not using Winbox

In web gui I can sett lage font size, so It would be easy for me to read information on the screen.
But as far as I see the font size in WinBox is fixed and its too small for me.

So a feature request from me to MikroTik is to add font adjustment to WinBox fonts.
I do use putty for cli command. There I can set large nice fonts.

Add Ctrl+/Ctrl- to adjust font size.

PS I do see that I am not alone:

If you are happy with Webfig, you can just keep using it. What is the reason you need Winbox anyway?

I couldn’t live without winbox. Clicking through the webfig is so much time consuming and unreliable for me. And what is the most important, does not work without full and correct ip configuration…

You are not the OP. He seems to be happy with Webfig.

I am not pretending that.

Glasses might help…

me too. i cant work without winbox.

Sadly im a GUI guy.
I have no idea what i’m doing in CLI yet.

You are more flexible with WinBox.
It handles multiple windows at the same time so you can see graphs, etc.
It does not timeout as Webfig does.
Look more professional.

So with a larger font, or larger monitor, I will use WinBox.

Whilist I think it would be a nice feature to be able to vary the font size in Winbox, there is the option on Windows OS to use the magnifier feature.

I have always thought that my vision is my responsibility. I get glasses accordingly. some need bi or tri focals. I don’t send mail back to sender because its not the font I desire.
I would get a 50" monitor or jewelers glasses vs making it other peoples responsibility to conform to my needs.

Real admins never use a GUI (web or winbox) !

Soooo, I guess I am not a real admin.

Actually, I very much prefer to use winbox

Have a look at this:

Winbox fonts actually can be scaled.

You don’t seriously recommend using Windows 10 ?!?

This works to some degree. It makes it more readable, but I would like larger fonts. (try Ctrl + (num plus)) in your browser.

I do not recommend anything here. I just offered a possible solution to people already using Windows-10. This thread is not about discussing which OS might be good or bad.

If you already zoom the text in your browser you might instead want to try an overall higher dpi-value in your display-settings. Thus all windows-applications will become more ‘zoomed in’.

Winbox was incorrectly named from the beginning and ignores users who don’t use Windows.

I haven’t used Windows regularly in over 10 years, and even before that I wasn’t using it as much as other stuff. I have been using Linux at work for nearly 20 years now, and BSD and Mac at home.

Yes I know there are emulators for Mac and Linux and others, but that’s one more layer I have to deal with.

I think both the name and the OS support need a re-think.

I’m only using the GUI for stuff that’s easier to deal with in it, and then I’m using the web gui. Most of the time I’m using CLI.

(I’ve only been a “network guy” for a few years now so maybe I’m missing something.)

It’s like with everything. Also btest and dude clients are windows only applications.
It looks easier to run windows application emulated in Linux than opposite.

The creators have every right to make it how they want it. No that being said users can voice their opinion and perhaps change things. In this case nothing was incorrectly named as it was designed for use with Windows. I highly doubt they will devote resources to a new Tik Manager with multi OS support. Would it be awesome? Yes I think it would. But they have Webfig and since its browser based they will argue that its multi-platform and negates the need make multi platform Tik Manager application. I like Winbox personally. I find terminal a pleasure to use vs Webfig. And their skins concept is alpha level. They need to drop the current layout and allow us to customize the pages by calling the variables we want. Customers should not have to click on 5 different things to land at the only thing we want them to adjust.

They already did it several times (refused to make Linux or Mac version of winbox). Personally I don’t mind, because I run Windows on my end stations… But I understand others. I would be upset like them if the situation was opposite.
