After I reinstalled the windows-XP OS of a workstation in Lan, I can’t log on winbox, its prompting shown like following picture. I recently have done two actions that I concerned that maybe causing this.
I had set “drop” input chain in “firewall-filter” few weeks before; but after I had done this, I can also log on winbox for few weeks;
today I had reinstalled the workstation’s Operating System,then I set the workstation “local network setting” is automatic get ip address and DNS, and the Mikrotik is been setting DHCP before, and my workstation now can get on net smoothly,and i can log on Webbox via “default gateway” or telnet,but just can’t log on winbox.
The prompting said “can’t connect 0.0.0.0…” , but where I can change the connection ip address? I remembered that It would auto detect ip address in the old days,but why it can’t nowadays? Is it due to I had set “drop” input chain? what should I do that I can log on winbox?
haha,normis, long time no see, how are you?
But in the old days, I remembered that it can detect automaticlly, Why it can’t now? I want to know where is the reason?
Open winbox loader (the screen you show in your first post).
Click the button with 3 dots just to the right of “connect to”
If you see the router you want to connect to, do one of 2 things:
a. Click the IP address if it shows an actual IP and NOT 0.0.0.0
b. Click the MAC address
Type the appropriate user and passwords
Click connect.
That’s 100% of all there is to it. You may have reinstalled windows, but that has nothing to do with this issue.
How and where I click the MAC address to instead the IP address, I curiously want to know?
Thank you normis,I can enter the IP address in the “connect to” frame and logged on, I had overlooked it because of the background color is so obscure. why it can’t auto find ip address when I clicked on the"[…]" button now?
