Why mAP lite is so... loud?

I’ve recently bought mAP lite to use as station for laptop and I’ve noticed that it’s quite… loud. Does it have active cooling? Considering compact size it sounds kind of unlikely. It makes me really curious what is responsible for this noise - fan? microdrive? radio? I have totally no idea. It’s louder than my laptop cooler on low speed

Here’s recorded sample of noise emitted by this thing:

RB2011 doesn’t make such noise.

i don’t think it has a fan or a speaker

Bad capacitors or other low quality components are responsible for the high frequency audible noise.

Funny (not really) I have same issues with $300 priced Uniquity UniFi AP AC (1st gen). I reported this to UBNT support a year ago, and they told me it’s “normal”. Don’t think it is. Just very bad design and components quality. Not only it buzzes but also becomes very hot under load. Now I’m really sorry that I bought it.
So, it is not strange that very inexpensive mAp lite has same issue. But Mikrotik would better fix this.

Well. If it is not a feature described in user manual, it entitles you to start the rma process. Definitely it is not normal and it prevents you from correct device using. There is a difference whether the device is designed to work in data centre or in your living room / dormitory.

Same here. It’s quite hot even without extensive load but i heard MT isn’t really best at power saving on idle so this actually is kind of typical i guess. I keep it sticked to laptop and it’s small 11 inch ultrabook so this pet is quite close to my ears thus quite disturbing. But still it’s super cuuuute /)^3^(\ with pink patch cable looks almost like Tamagotchi for admin  . Too cute to not love it.
