This question is specifically directed at Mikrotik but any other person who has received an answer from Miktrotik regarding this issue may also help.
I noticed that when generating users/pins in batch mode, Miktrotik does not give the option to use a blank password in any of their existing versions of User manager. why is this so? I ask because many of us implementing our hotspots would just prefer to generate many pins (say 20-30 pins with our company names, price, time, etc, printed out on A4 size paper) of about 6 alpha-numeric characters each without necessarily wanting to have a password for the log in. I would like to know why Mikrotik did not take this flexibility into consideration or whether they have plans to include such flexible options in future releases of UM-
Summary of question is:
WHY IS THERE NO OPTION TO PRINT BATCH PINS WITHOUT ANY LOGIN PASSWORD?
I agree! I’d need this too. Many of our hotspot locations use a single pin code to login, which in reality is the username, so the password is left blank.
While this doesn’t help with the feature request itself, just write a script that goes through all existing User Manager accounts via the CLI and sets the password to blank. Schedule it to run every 10 minutes. Don’t sell batch created accounts for 10 minutes after you’ve performed that action.
Well I believe that the majority of people using User manager do not know how to write scripts. Thus We would prefer something less complicated and something simply in built into the User manager itself. I was hoping that their beta version for their new release would take care of that problem but it did not. I am still hoping that a Mikrotik rep would respond to this issue being discussed.
