Why (Not) MikroTik? (Packet Pushers podcast)

If you haven’t seen it, I thought that I would share this podcast here. Packet Pushers is one of the largest network engineering podcasts out there and has a huge reach in the enterprise and data center space.

They’ve had more and more feedback that MikroTik is becoming increasingly common in the Enterprise market and wanted to record a show to talk about it. I recorded this with them a few weeks ago and it published recently.

Hope you enjoy it and would love to hear thoughts on MikroTik in enterprise and DC networks

Short, text version?

@IPANetEngineer, thanks! In queue for tonight’s listening!

It’s an hour-long podcast and I don’t think the transcript is available. If it is, it wouldn’t be short

Ok I got to the part when IPv6 only upgrades work, are you running some futuristic RouterOS?
Because currently you can’t upgrade and/or even license a system that doesn’t have IPv4 connectivity.
I have a one year old ticket about this that still isn’t resolved (but closed as “it’s on the to-do list but no ETA”).
I’ve stopped listening right there.
I’ve stopped a little bit too late sadly, should’ve done it in the first minutes at “the largest consulting firm IN THE WORLD” ^^
Like your signature, it’s all marketing.

The check-for-update and download definitely works over IPv6, not sure about the CHR licensing server though..

This is causing me issues because of a RouterOS broken BGP feature that isn’t a feature..

I’ve tried last week to update a system with IPv6 only and it didn’t work, I’ll try again.
