Wich Wireless package to use, -fp or cm2?

Hi,

I was just wondering if community has any input on wich package to use now that CM2 has become “standard wireless package” as of ROS 6.30?

I do currently NOT use CapsMAN, but I have been testing out the fp wireless package anyway to see if it works better in some areas and on some links with mixed results. Sometimes links and APs seem more stable, then again other places they got more unstable using -FP.

And I recon IF i would start using Capsman at this point, I would go for Capsman v2 anyway since it now practically is “built in”.

So I guess what I am really asking is if there is ANY advantage/reason to keep using -FP package for anything (excluding Capsman v1 ability ofcourse) in terms of wireless capabilitys?!

If there arent any special advantages to using -FP package, I will probably standarize all my wireless devices on -CM2 for the future and revert all current -FP sites.

So I am open for some input and advices on the matter!

cm2 also has some improvements for newer 802.11ac and other improvements.
fp is the new legacy package

Thx Normis for the info, that settles it then for me: New standard package for me from now on = CM2 package! :sunglasses:

Normis, i use wireless package for links 802.11a / turbo a / n / with nstreme or nv2. Should i use wireless-cm2 package in X86 or routerboard 433ah?

Hi Normis,

can you elaborate the improvements?

Thanks,
Stefan

Since CM2 package is also for new, unannounced products, which have new chipsets, any optimisations and fine-tuning goes into CM2. This also affects older chips, so in general CM2 should be used if possible.

Hello normis

When this new, unannounced products, which new chipsets will be announced  ?

Just approximate date, nothing more

We announce new products all the time, every month or so

OK, so something has already been announced with the new radio chipset? (MU-MIMO)
or roughly when to expect the announcement ?

Come to our MUM events, keep following Newsletters. There is no specific new product. We keep making new products all the time.

hAP, hEX, Dynadish - they are all new products that were recently introduced.

Thanks, we always watching mum / and newsletters

Hello Folks!

I tested this new package on SXT AC ↔ SXT N.
Before I got link settle to 300/300 after I got 60/60 as max.
Throughput become less than before, will have it sit like that for a day and see what happens, if not better I will switch back again.
We did not implement it at any other place in our network yet due to this,

Hmmm, this doesnt sound too good!

Did you change nothing in config other then swicth packet when you changed to CM2-package?

Is it still the same now after some days?

Exactly same config as before.

However, we did move to cm2 package all over our network now, no visible issues except this link that was supposed to be a test for higher ptmp networks thant our rock solid 54Mbit/s that has been used for years.

So if I understand correctly, in order to get all NV2 improvements I need to upgrade my whole network to -cm2? The ordinary wireless package will never be updated and can be considered obsolete?
