I was just wondering if community has any input on wich package to use now that CM2 has become “standard wireless package” as of ROS 6.30?
I do currently NOT use CapsMAN, but I have been testing out the fp wireless package anyway to see if it works better in some areas and on some links with mixed results. Sometimes links and APs seem more stable, then again other places they got more unstable using -FP.
And I recon IF i would start using Capsman at this point, I would go for Capsman v2 anyway since it now practically is “built in”.
So I guess what I am really asking is if there is ANY advantage/reason to keep using -FP package for anything (excluding Capsman v1 ability ofcourse) in terms of wireless capabilitys?!
If there arent any special advantages to using -FP package, I will probably standarize all my wireless devices on -CM2 for the future and revert all current -FP sites.
So I am open for some input and advices on the matter!
Since CM2 package is also for new, unannounced products, which have new chipsets, any optimisations and fine-tuning goes into CM2. This also affects older chips, so in general CM2 should be used if possible.
I tested this new package on SXT AC ↔ SXT N.
Before I got link settle to 300/300 after I got 60/60 as max.
Throughput become less than before, will have it sit like that for a day and see what happens, if not better I will switch back again.
We did not implement it at any other place in our network yet due to this,
However, we did move to cm2 package all over our network now, no visible issues except this link that was supposed to be a test for higher ptmp networks thant our rock solid 54Mbit/s that has been used for years.
So if I understand correctly, in order to get all NV2 improvements I need to upgrade my whole network to -cm2? The ordinary wireless package will never be updated and can be considered obsolete?
