I dunno what exactly happened. I was running DUDE v1.1 as service and then, I asked my windows to restart. After the restart, DUDE comes up with a portion of my devices completely messed.
This thing is what was happening to me when trying to go DUDE v2.0b2 with the same map and also, these devices appearing as “(unknown device)” are devices that I have added on DUDE rc8.
I cant send my files to support MT. But you can do the following test on DUDE v2.0b2:
- Start a clean DUDE install;
- Add a map and mannually add devices on it;
- Add one static object and different links between them.
Okay, you have now a map working, then do the following:
- Export config and make a backup;
- Completely uninstall and remove DUDE;
- Start another clean DUDE install;
- Import the backup file.
When I do this here with DUDE v2.0b2 I get the same map problem. The map I have imported with that backup file show some devices connected to the static object with the same thing: “(unknown)”. When this happen, DUDE also discovery the same devices again but does not replace the unknown devices.
Would be nice to have a database on DUDE where you link an IP address with a name field. This could help me a lot, cuz, every time I lost a map I could just delete these messed devices and tell DUDE to rescan and add them again, looking their “names” (not domain names) on a local table.
Here is my screenshot:

A side note: A “cut/copy/paste” feature on network maps could be very nice as well… Also, as a feature to reset the device, i.e: I mannualy add a device, then I change its IP address. The name of that built in data source on ping from that device still has the old IP address. To change this I must delete and add again the same device with this new address. Why not add a button to do this automatically with all devices? kinda a refresh button of all devices connectivity under DUDE engine…

Thank you all.
