Wifi + Concrete walls = FAIL

I’m trying to set up wifi in a hotel, and it’s constructed like a bunker. The main building has about 100 rooms and 3 floors. All the walls between rooms and all the floors are about 1ft thick concrete with a good amount of metal and tile mixed in. I don’t think normal indoor access points and antennas are going to cut it in this kind of environment. Any suggestions as to what the best equipment to use in this situation would be to achieve wall penetration?

Thanks in advance!

Leaky coax? -Generally used for UHF stuff, no idea if it will work with 2.4ghz..

Your only bet here is to use the BPL (Broadband over Powerline), or the cheaper wall-plug units you can get at staples, etc that use the interior electrical system to carry the internet signals. You can get ones that have an ethernet plug to feed a router, or even ones with built-in WiFi.

There’s cheaper netgear and linksys ones too.

I had one like that, got one similar that is up and running.

Both of the shots I went through the windows rather than try to fight the walls.

The AP feeding the front building is in the back building, and the reverse.
