i am not a newbie with mikrotik, i am working with for a few years now. but recently i am trying to get more in deep knowledge about it. i set up a lab with two LGH XL routerboard, Router OS 7.14.3 LHG HP5
i set up one Antenna as PTP Bridge AP, the second one as PTP Bridge CPE. i use a WPA2 Pre-Shared Key and both Antennas have each a own IP on the eth Interface.
the wifi is working, i can ping both Antennas and both Networks behind the Antennas.
BUT
as soon i create traffic the wifi connection crashes, both antennas go offline, i need to reboot the Bridge AP to re-establish the connection. it suffices to open one simple website on my notebook, or to do a bandwith test, or even to download the newest firmware for the Antennas.
i can ping successfully for weeks and months, but “real” traffice causes the wifi to crash…
what can cause the problem? i am really struggling with this…
Post your configuration. Without that, we would be guessing.
To export and paste your configuration (and I’m assuming you are using WebFig or Winbox), open a terminal window, and type (without the quotes) “/export hide-sensitive file=any-filename-you-wish”. Then open the files section and right click on the filename you created and select download in order to download the file to your computer. It will be a text file with whatever name you saved to with an extension of .rsc. Suggest you then open the .rsc file in your favorite text editor and redact any sensitive information. Then in your message here, click the code display icon in the toolbar above the text entry (the code display icon is the 7th one from the left and looks like a square with a blob in the middle). Then paste the text from the file in between the two code words in brackets.
when trying to downgrade the first antenna from routeros 7.14 to 7.12 i noticed that it just doesn’t word. after the reboot the firmware 7.14 remains installed.
i even cant restore a backup from another antenna, the restored config simply does not apply.
i will replace this antenna, maybe its really a malfunction of the antenna itself
Using a BACKUP config from a different radio should not be expected to work. Backup is only to be used on the EXACT same device.
Second, look at the factory firmware. You can never downgrade firmware to anything lower than the factory firmware.
You would likely be better off upgrading the 7.12.1 radio up to 7.14.3 to match the other end.
Then also correct the wireless-protocol so it matches between the two ends.
