WIFI RANGE with 15dbi omni antena and card wifi R52n

Hello all

I have a problem

I need to install using a 15dbi omni antenna, card Mikrotik RouterBoard 433A and
atheros wifi card R52n
I would like to know what is the theoretical range of my antenna with all this equipment.

I would also like to know if I configure the nstreme in my system is what it can improve
the range of my wifi signal? so what is the way to configure the nstreme in my system

Thanks, please i wainting your reply.

i am not sure but for nstreme to be working i think u need to have separate antenna for transmitting and recieving. which aint possible with R52n.

15dbi omni with a normal urban landscape should cover around 400 mtrs w/o LOS and 2km with LOS but this is with my network.

Thanks for your reply
what is LOS ?

and i want to known

How to increase the range of the signal with my equipments?
And which is the best configuration to have a good range

Thanks.

LOS=Line of Sight

Try Routerboard 411AH with 800 mW card. They have lot of penetration & range.
Easily configurable as well.

please can you explain me exactly LOS and what is her importance?

My friend,

LOS “Line of Sight” meaning the the client should have an antenna equipment pointing right to your omni around
and up to 1 or 2 kilometer. however if the coverage is only within 500 meters, the client don’t need an equipment
they can just use their built in laptop wireless to connect. this is only possible if there is no noise and not many
interference from other Access Points around.

thanks

It means there should be no obstacle between the omni and the client receiver (cpe or laptop).
I would suggest http://wndw.net/ for starters. It has lots of info on RF

i have setup me antenna 15 dbi with my mikrotik card R52n, but i don’t why my range is very bad
the range is not good it is very bad
and QCC is 5%, I do not know if it’s a configuration problem
because before I had the same equipment with a card R52 but the range was even better.
may be a configuration problem
Can someone help me?

please help

i send the picture of my configuration

Which country r u from.
Did u try testing the CCQ at different frequencies.

ok the country is cameroon in Africa
i have just use the frequence mode=manuel txpower

it is bad ??

for the frequence, yes i have do that, but any change

  1. Click on Freq. Usage and see the Freq. with lowest Noise Level. Use this freq.
  2. Select Bang to 2.4 GHz-B instead of B/G
  3. Select Hardware Protection Mode to rts/cts and configure the same for your clients.
  4. We are using Hw. Fragmentation threshold = 512 and Hw. Protection threshold = 512. Select what suits u the best in your region. Upgrade Router OS to 4.0 and above.

If all this helps give some KARMA points.

you are wrong, you need two antennas for nstreme dual.

thanks for your help, ma version of routerboardOS is 4.13
but after the change,my CCA is always 5%, i think that this value is note good
my routerboard is 433
what can i do to correct this issue?

Thanks

have u done the settings as suggested. u applied rts/cts and all. ur CCQ shld change immediately with altering from 2.4GHz-B/G to 2.4GHz -B only. If still not changed then check ur Pig tail/or MMCX/ufl connector cable and ur antenna. Send a screenshot of ur client side whr u r reading the CCQ.

thanks,
my CCQ is idem after the change
how can check my antenna?

ok now i have this information in my wireless configuration

Overall tx CCQ=50 %
Noise floor =-121dbm
Frequence=2.4ghz B
Ack timeout= 27us

this information is good?

With the CCQ=50% the range must be good ??

Thanks for you reply

Check for a freq. usage of between 88-100 dbm if there aren’t too many operators in ur area, u shld be able to get it. I still suspect your antenna or pigtail. u did not mention ur channel.

Does ur client support N? or r u trying with ur client set at 2.4 n

replace that omni with a sector antenna, in general omnis used to burn your radio especially in noisy environments.
