The registration table before V7 listed Radio Names. Now that very useful column has disappeared. Why???
What GUI are you referring to?
By using the name-format as part of CAPsMAN Provisioning you should be able to set it and show it:
Specifically, how do I include the Radio Name as a column in the Registration tab of the Winbox WIFI window?
Same issue with the Distance column
I think you don’t mean “v7” but “the new WiFi driver”.
Radio names are still present when the old driver (“wireless”) is used on v7, but when using the new “wifi-qcom” driver they are not. The new driver probably does not have the feature.
Remember the old driver was an in-house development where they incorporated lots of MikroTik-developed enhancements, where the new driver is just the chip manufacturer standard driver. Ok, by now it probably again has gotten all kinds of local changes, but it will remain different forever.
Yes I actually meant routerboards that use wifi-qcom like the arm based units.
I think Mikrotik should try to somehow go beyond the standard wireless drivers from the chip manufacturer so that we can see at least the two important pieces of data I mentioned on the registration table.
Older SXTsq units are OK but the new ax versions do not display those.
Other manufacturer’s equipment does not have that either. At least not in a way compatible with what MikroTik had. When I do a scan of the band using the old driver, I only see radio names for access points made by MikroTik.
“ip neighbor” is a little different, that is based on a standard and other equipment can be seen there, although not all fields are populated. Maybe you can use it for your purpose.
You may think so but Mikrotik does not.
There is a reason why they moved from in-house developed drivers to manufacturer drivers.
So they don't have to take care of it anymore at all.
