Hi Guys!
I have some desktop clients on my trial Hotspot and most of them are staying connected with their wireless connection even after they use the internet. I can see their connection still active on the DHCP active list with the idle-timeout just refreshing after every DHCP lease expiration.
I want to make sure that my client gets the correct “uptime” for internet connection only and not physical wireless connect time to the AP-HS.
Configuration:
internet -->(ether1) MT Hotspot (ether2) → Dlink AP → wireless clients
Enabled-Address method
DHCP Auth - Active on the Hotspot network.
Question 1:
will the “idle-timeout” automatically log-off idle clients (no internet traffic but still connected to wireless HS)?
Question 2:
is there a way to really disconnect idle clients to conserve IP addresses and make way for new leases?
