Will this UPS work with the UPS package? ....Last 3 didn't

Hi Guys

I’ve tried 3 different UPS’s and non of them work with the my mikrotik..I have v3.18 installed with the UPS package.

So will any of these work? http://www.pcmall.co.za/subcategories.asp?categoryid=479
If so which is the cheapest one that works 100% with mikrotik?

Hi normis,

Doesn’t the MT UPS package use one of the serial port control lines to determine if the UPS is about to fail?
That is the line I used to monitor with a previous OS. The unfortunate part of most of the new UPS models is the addition of a USB port and removal of the RS-232 port. I cannot get the control line signals to work reliably with the USB-to-serial converters. Do you have a better way?

currently I don’t. maybe we could work on the USB UPS support …

Hi headstrong,
If all that geek talk didn’t make any sense: Right now, you need to find one in the SMART series that still has a serial port. I had no joy with the USB-to-serial converters in this application. MT has your request.

UPDATE: I checked out the SMART series, and all those still have the serial connector and the USB, but some may require a special cable.

Older (2003 vintage) APC Smart-UPS 1500 RM connected via USB works.
Current model APC Back-UPS XS 1500 also works connected via USB.

Hello!
A friend of mine has one issue with this APC UPS support.All MK routers, except 433AH wont restart after UPS failure.They only beep once and then nothing. Any suggestion?

how about PHOINEX 6KVA online ups will work in mikro box???

Any UPS will work, but if you want to monitor status within RouterOS - ONLY APC SMART UPS WILL WORK

What does anyone know about the NEW models of APC Smart-ups. I just bought a couple and they have a usb and rj45. The rj45 has a cable that converts to rs232.
I can’t seem to get any readings from it.
I have used older models, but has you all know they don’t make old models anymore.
Anyone use the newer models. I bought SMT750 and SMT1500
