WinBox 4.4 released!

you can see the screen-shot of the CLI that exacly no space.

it work on cli connetion-bytes=2000000-0 but on both version of winbox show red colour. i can even can not edit it on winbox; only on cli.

i try it from two different windows notebook but on the same CHR and RB1100AHx4

EDIT: just find it out on different version of ROS. so it is not the winbox bug, but the ROS itself.

same result when using winbox 4.4

I can confirm that it works without problem with 7.24.4 as well. I did report that bug some time ago and it got fixed but I cannot be sure if fix was in RouterOS or WinBox.

Has there been any mention if tabbed sessions will be implemented?

It was never a thing in winbox 3 but since winbox 4 is all about updating and supposedly improving the experience, I feel this should have been one of the main design decisions. I still want the ability to run separate winbox instances, but I also want the ability to declutter the workspace by having tabbed sessions within the same window. It's extremely chaotic when I have a dozen discrete winbox sessions open, but 8 of them might all be related to 1 site. I'd much rather condense those 8 down

send them a feature request "support ticket"

Had to use Winbox4 again today because I upgraded a device to 7.25rc1.

This annoys me to no end. I'm running a 2880x1920 screen with scaling set to 100% just to be able to see everything without having to scroll/resize anything, yet WB4 is only using half of the available screen estate and I have to doubleclick every single column to get rid of the "...". Please fix this.

Also very much like @rootboot 's idea to tint the comments in the dark theme. Further comments:

  • Why is winbox4 for Windows packed as a .zip file when everyone just needs the .exe anyways?
  • Why is 'Remote address' no longer a standard column in Routing>BGP>Connections?
  • Why does the confirmation prompt to remove an entry from an address list reference the name of the list and not the address? Clicking 'Confirm' correctly removes the entry, not the list.

That annoys me a ton too, its just very weird issue to have, they had it figured out on 3.3 which is weird to not just carry over to the newer version...
But might just be me.

Hi, does anyone know if there are plans to implement the “Show Categories” feature from Winbox 3 into Winbox 4? I haven't been able to simulate anything similar  . I use it, for example, in /ip/dhcp-server/leases to separate individual DHCP servers, etc.

This is the last hurdle for me before I can switch to Winbox 4 completely :smiling_face_with_tear:

Yeah.. in Winbox it is broken. CLI is fine. ROS 7.23.7 long-term.

add action=fasttrack-connection chain=forward comment="XX" connection-bytes=2500000-0 connection-mark=no-mark connection-state=established,related

Yes it does not work on 7.23x releases, but works on 7.24.x and newer.

Multiplicity of management interfaces is biting developers again...

What was the main reason of replacing Winbox 3 with 4 ?

I understand pleasing Apple and Linux users was one of the reasons, but there has to be more to it.

Does anyone know ?

Each session of Winbox4 today uses, at least 118 MB of RAM.
Against 11,2 MB of Winbox3.

MikroTik... Could you please set a target of half of the memory?

  • "Less then 64MB per instance of connected Winbox session."

No vivid colors, no special fonts, no special animations...
Half of the memory usage.

Thanks in advance!

MikroTik support #[SUP-225781]: WInbox - Drag-and-Drop filter rules system log messages

Regarding Winbox all versions incl. Winbox 4.4

When moving firewall rules via drag-and-drop, the system generates a log message with the topics System, Info: "filter rule moved by tcp-msg(winbox):admin@192.168.1.99 ()".

Remarks:

  • The message does not contain any information to identify which rule was moved.
  • If a rule is dragged and dropped back to its original position, the system still generates a movement log. This is misleading, especially since no additional context is provided.

Proposed Changes:

  1. Improve the log message format to include specific details:
filter rule [$filter_rule_comment] moved by tcp-msg(winbox):admin@192.168.1.88 (From position X to Y)
  2. Suppress the log message if a rule is dragged and dropped back to its original position without actually changing the order.

Well, it depends on how you look at it.

Win11/WinBox 4.4:

Shell only: ~145-160MB,
Connected router (E50UG, few lines log): ~265-285MB.

WIn11/WinBox 4.3

Connected routers:

There is a bug with the 'Address' field in IP -> DHCP Server -> Leases

If there is a Static entry, then I can't right click in that field box. No drop down shows up so I can't 'Copy' an address

Every other field works. I can right click in i.e. MAC Address, Client ID, Comment etc but specifically 'Address' does not work. It does work if its a Dynamic lease, but not if its a Static lease

Frustrating as I use this often via RDP on a phone, so Ctrl+C is quite a bit harder to do than Right Click -> Copy
