Don’t ask me why, but I normally do not set an IP to the devices manually. Since you can connect to them via MAC using winbox and dhcp client works quite well.
Or it used to. WinBox 4 refuses to connect to a device that has no IP assigned. If the device reports 0.0.0.0 and you try to connect to it via MAC it will fail. Set an IP, any IP, and you can connect using MAC. Why is this now a requirement? it didn’t seem to matter in winbox 3.x
