Hello

I am new to Microtik products having only used consumer routers up to this

I purchased a Microtik RB951G-2HnD and used winbox to configure it I am basically using it as a home router and its working great so far

in the quickset screen there is a section for 2 wireless networks one main one and a guest network you can limit download on guest and I have done this and it works but I would like to know if guest network is isolated from main network ie does it only have internet access

I really find it a steep learning curve but the router is so much flexible than normal consumer routers

I’d like to know what the distinction here is as well…

On the guest wlan interface; default forward default authenticate are enabled. How is guest access limited?

How is the download speed limited?


It would be great to be able to set an upload speed limit as well.

I dont’t use such funtionality, but you can easily test that by yourself: link to guest network and try to connect to you lan/main network (ping, whatever..).
Surely you can achieve that goal with mt gears using normal config tools (not ‘wizard’ stuff, which I don’t use), so I guess ..
