winbox.exe & wine-0.9.25

Hi!

OK! I am using Slackware 11.0 Everything worked just fine with wine-0.9.23. Upgraded to wine-0.9.25 … and since then winbox.exe freezes… Sometimes it continues to run after a minute or two… but usually I have to terminate the window…
I know, I could just downgrade to 0.9.23… but I’m curious… has anyone had an experience like this…?

exactuly as you have noted.

it’s not just you

i have the same problem FC5 wine-0.9.24 - winbox freeze ( on wine-0.9.23 works fine)

I just installed FC6 and did “yum install wine”. It freezes on winbox too. Is there an easy way to downgrade wine?

Matt

OK guys!

Now, I know, I’m not alone with this problem… Is there a solution? There are some windows programs that can be run only with the new wine releases…
On the other hand… are we on the wrong forum? Should not we try to post these questions to the wine community as well, since nobody knows the answer from MikroTik…?

in upcoming RouterOS version we have included a workaround for the new wine versions

so - now we have answer from MT  if we just knew when this new version comes or when to start to expect - that would be NICE

Perhaps they could just leak a new version of Winbox now unless its the plugins messing up?

Matt

winbox itself is just a loader, all the files are inside routeros.
edit: it’s not messing it up, it’s a wine bug. we just made a workaround.

Eh, but WinBox has version numbers and has (as memory serves) never been posted as an upgrade or changelog. In some past versions at least, the new features were not avalable unless the loader is updated.

Is this workaround available? I’m using the 2.2.10 winbox.exe with MT 2.9.38 and it’s freezing under wine 0.9.24 and 0.9.27… Would really like to be able to get back to a useable winbox under wine.. ssh interface is sometimes slow to traverse…

Robert

As Normis already said:

Try version 2.9.39 when it is released

I await anxiously…!!!
