Winbox help - make new entry VS overwrite?

I am creating an entry of 192.168.88.1 with a user name of JimBob and some huge password. I also may add it to a Group like Company XYZ, and perhaps provide a location Note=SunnyPlace. I then use a VPN to access said 88.1 router. Life is good.

When I add another router with that same IP (192.168.88.1) and username (JimBob) BUT with a different huge password it simply overwrites the current entry with that IP and user name with the new password. Is there a way to create a unique entry? Given the Password / Group / and sometimes the note is different I was surprised it did not create a new entry.

I wish there separate Add(new) and Set(update) button.

Any thoughts appreciated.

Update your winbox, clear its cache and test again.

Thanks for this - unfortunately it did not work. It keeps updating.

Anyone else? Is this the expected behavior?

You can not add two routers with same address…

one thing you can do is to change default winbox port 8291 to something different in one of the routers
in that way you can add two routers with the same IP addreses

i tried this and it worked

Thanks for this … but then I would have to use different ports for each one. Looks like no easy way to do it.

I can create a Static DNS name for the router and use that. Any other ideas?
