Winbox & HTTP(S) access from WWW

Hi all,

I’m going to my holidays and i need to have access to my router.

Now, i have local access but not external access since the WWW.

IP services winbox, http, https already enable.

Have you an idea ? Thanks a lot

  1. (optional) change the default admin acct name and passwd since you’re granting access
  2. (optional) Get some dynamic DNS (makes things more easy to handle remote)
  3. (optional) Change the default ports (since you’re granting access)
  4. Open up your firewall (w/ portknocking (optional)? restricted to specific IP and/or MAC addrs (optional)?)
  5. for https you’d need to get certificates which can be some work, self-signed would work as well.

all set

Your safest and most advised method of external access to your router is via VPN, and IKE vpn works great.
Otherwise research port knocking for a reasonable alternative in the short term.
Any other choice is foolhardy and cannot be recommended.
