Does Winbox 3 or 4 has any kind of integration with Vault or Password Manager tool?
I mean tools like:
- Lastpass
- 1Password
- Bitwarden
- Hashicorp Vault
- Infisical
- Configu
A company in Europe presented its solution recently and basically entails connecting to one of its servers and it provides
a number of additional security options for users to complete.
a. 2FA
b. original equipment check
etc..
So yes there are paid solutions but in terms of built-in, Wireguard is incapable of doing much more as the limitation is MTs lack of interest to develop it further.
They have done great work with BTH, so that even without a public IP people can safely reach and config their router etcā¦ So I shouldnt complain.
However, I wish they kept going.
a. what your request is clear, everyone has gone to 2FA as a minimumā¦
b. even better is Amnesia Wireguard which purports to āhideā the packets to another layer so that they do not appear as vpn traffic.
Actually, my goal with this question is something much simpler, which Winbox does not allow today.
Basically, I am talking about software that automatically fills in usernames and passwords by searching for them in a password vault somewhere that is pre-authenticated by a set of credentials with a good level of security.
I understand your suggestion/hypothesis.
I really like scenarios with access via SSO and tokens, but I honestly think that this would be very far from happening in the Mikrotik world.
So I just want the basics.
A password repository that allows me to rotate passwords with a certain frequency, and have a log of who āgotā the passwords.
Just to give an example, the use of password vaults (individual or shared vaults) works very well with Mikrotikās WebGui, but then the WebBrowser is responsible for the integration with the password vault. The same goes for SSH.
If your Password Manager has APIs you can sync user manager users. I sync Brevo.com (marketing platform) users with UserManager with APIs
