Winbox is empty when connecting to Omnitik

I have a remote location where an Omnitik is installed as an Access Point. That Omnitik starts a PPTP connection to my router (RB2011) locally at my permanent location.

From this location I can SSH to the Omnitik, and everything is fine using the command prompt.

When I start Winbox on the same location, I get connected, but I see a complete empty configuration. No Ethernet interfaces, no IP’s, no routes… Just empty!


After 30 seconds or so, Winbox disconnects.

What can be the problem?

Bad connection. Very slow and dropping packets. Maybe there is MTU problem so bigger packets are lost instead of to be fragmented.

Correct, the internet in that country is very very bad. So I am happy that at least this works.

Opening webpages of devices (like RB260GS, main router etc…) does not work.


What setting of MTU can be considered for improvement of the link?

Make the test with nonfragmented ping rising the packet size. You will see…

Webfig is fine? Webfig should be faster, maybe use that instead.

Webfig is not working at all. It times out as any other webconfiguration page of any device (like ADSL modem is not reachable by web etc..).

OK, I changed the MTU to 1300 and the MRU to 1300 and it works now.
