Winbox login through radius

There is no resolution, and not a peep from Mikrotik. You must use a clear text password if you want to use RADIUS.

Any decent solution or workaround almost a decade after?
other than plain-text passwords of course

Why bump an almost 8 year old thread? If you had actually checked Mikrotik changed the login service authentication to MSCHAPv2 in v6.43 almost four years ago which will work with either plaintext or NTLM hashes / Active Directory.

Damn… i have been on this forum for only 3 days and i’ve already been scolded twice for nothing…
@tdw why do you think am i asking for, just for fun?

I’m using MK User Manager and i can auth via winbox, telnet, etc, but can’t login via console. If you can help me and possibly others with the same problem it would be amazing.. if not, please ignore and keep browsing

Unless it is directly related it its considered bad practice to resurrect ancient threads, start a new topic including all the relevant information - User Manager is completely different from using AD, NPS or FreeRADIUS, and the authentication method used by Winbox has changed.

Having used FreeRADIUS I don’t know what the limitations of User Manager are, and they are likely to change between v6 and v7 as it has been completely re-engineered.

ok, will do

P.D: sorry, just wanted to add i just solved my problem for anyone facing the same issue in the future, i was actually missing a configuration in MK User Manager

Go to the userman, on Users tab, edit the desired user and look for Constraints, there you can change the amount of active sessions of that user on Shared users:
i struggled a bit cause logs are a little missleading but ye that does it,
hope it helps
