Hi I have winbox installed and wanted connect to my router (RB3011UIAS-RM) and I get a message that my version of winbox is to old (v3.11).
I do not remember my password and will format my hdd so I wonder if there is a way to get my password back to access the router.
my current winbox-installation has my password stored.
And what’s the problem? Simly update WinBox and current stored accounts will still be there.
Or if you want to transfer settings to another computer, you’re looking for:
%APPDATA%\MikroTik\Winbox\
which is usually:
C:\Users<username>\AppData\Roaming\MikroTik\Winbox\
Ok. good.
So after that I just create a new administrator with a new password and kill the old one?
Thanks for the help.
I’m not sure if I understand what’s your goal. But if you want to create new account and delete old one, then yes, that’s what you’d do.
I just want a username and password that I know since I will be removing the HDD and make a clean install on a new m.2 drive.
Perhaps you have a better suggestion for my migration schema.
Or open winbox > tools >export
then open .wbx file with notepad and all usernames/password are there in plain text
I can not see any information there, newer versions crypt the file. I will not be able to log in to the mikrotik RB before the installation since my win7 installation is screwed up and do not have any network.
Can I just export addresses.wbx and then when I have clean installed the new OS load addresses and I will get my password back?
