I’d love to see a MAC OSX/Unix version of winbox as well.
In the meantime, I use VirtualPC by Connectix (now Microsoft) to run all of my “PC only” network apps. On slower Mac’s, VirtualPC can be kinda slow, however, once it is up a running it is acceptable. I run it on a 1Ghz PPC Powerbook with pretty fair results.
at least in this professional environment, we should be able do distinguish between MAC and Mac (OS X doesn’t run on MACs and there is no Mac-address also ;-))
btw, i am using winbox on VPC with Win2k on a PB G4/400, which works good/fast enough.

OK
Back tgo the original topic: Being able to use WinBox over a “MAC connection” (without ip) would be a welcome addition…
Agreed, this would be an excellent feature.
One reason is that the “end user” may lose their IP address, through mis-configuration (hey, we all do that -) and need to get back again. Though experts are happy with MAC-telnet and command line, an end user might not cope if they have been only trained on Winbox.
Not everyone is a command-line genius …

I use WINE to run winbox on my linux setup… that or ssh.. ![]()
the mikrotik CLI is directly related to the winbox setup making it easy to manage from either. That’s one of the things I love about the software, its intuitive user interface.
MAC winbox (MAC level, not Apple Mac) is or will be in the next beta version of Winbox - v2.9. As I remember this has been made.
