Hi,
running winbox on windows vista I can connect to Routerboards via IPs but not via MAC:
Could not connect to 00:0C:42:0B:A6:AC (port 20561) - timed out!
Firewall is off
Defender is off
UAC is off
but the connection seems to be blocked. Does anybody know why?

vista vista… seems like the built in firewall of vista that blocked the mac login, i have the same issued too.
change your computer to XP. 
I am using Vista and have no problems with winbox ( IP and MAC ). Probably you have some some kind of software installed that blocks MAC communication or probably windows services are running that are responsible for this. You can search google which Vista services may be disabled as they do nothing useful ( except eating resources and blocking Winbox 
)
While I am not a fan of Vista and its many problems, I have had no issue connecting to routerboards via mac.
