I have been using Winbox a lot and sometimes I want to see two tabs at the same time in the same Winbox session. To make this possible I a made a setup to spawn tabs to its own windows inside Winbox or even outside Winbox if that is feasible.
The rules for spawned tab-windows are simple:
- spawned tab-windows can’t exist between sessions of Winbox, this to keep a ‘clean’ layout on entering Winbox (session save for re-usage)
spawned tab-windows can are be closed, in Winbox session, by clicking on the tab in the original window (solves a lot of interfacing stuff at same time)
when clicking on a tab to be spawned the next tab is displayed (round robin) - in windows with two tabs this leads to closing an eventually already earlier spawned tab if it exits in that windows
in windows with three and more tabs the next tab is becoming visible (round robin)
when the next tab(s) is/are already spawned, the next un-spawned tab is displayed - if there is no next un-spawned tab, then the next tab is displayed, and so closed that earlier spawned tab-window
I don’t know what options there are to activate a spawn tab and I suggest to add a “spawn button” in the bar below the tab(s) section. Displaying the button has to be manually activated in ‘Settings’ and default it is not activated. Position on the right of the find box.
Then, how to indicate that an tab is spawned…maybe to make the name of the tab white instead of black (invert).
I hope that there is support for this and that Mikrotik likes this setup so that I don’t have to open up several Winbox sessions at the same time as I have to do now.
