windows RDP and Filesharing problem over wireless link

I got a wierd one.

I have a nicely working point to point wireless setup using mtik 4.6 and routerboards w R52n cards running n@5Ghz.

From my windows 7 machine
I can ping everywhere.
I can RDP/fileshare to Windows XP machines over the link.
I can’t RDP/Fileshare to Windows 7/2008 over the link

as I said I can ping these and other services all work fine, there is no firewalling at all onany of the links - I can also RDP/FS to these same machines when I am on the same end of the link (locally)..

Is the link layer 2?

If not, Windows 2008/7 introduces the concept of zones in their host firewalls. I believe file sharing by default is only permitted on the local link, traffic that didn’t originate on the local link would be dropped.
