Wired hotspot and wireless connection

Hi everybody.

I have installed a hotspot for our construction camp . I used RB 1100 AHX2, connection is delivered to the rooms via cabled network and authentication is made at 1100 AHX2. Now we want to setup a wireless network for same users, they will be connecting to same RB1100 AHx2. I have some RB433 AH s but I do not know where and how to start. We are far from settlements and there will not be intruders but we must limit bw, authorize usage.

Anybody who had a similar project?

Are you wanting to use the authentication from the hotspot on the RB1100? If so, you should just bridge an ether interface with your wlan interface and plug it into your network.

Yes, that is what I wanted. Actually I think I solved the case. It is working now with my laptop connected to RB1100 via wireless Ap ( 433 AH ). I will test in real environment though.

Only issue that I need help is to put IP on AP, so I can ping to find if there is a problem for future operation. I am using DHCP from RB1100 and our IP settings are 10.20.100.0/24 GW 10.20.100.1. Do you think I should put a static Ip on RB433AH AP?

Thanks

Yep, I would put a static on it. Make sure you put it on the bridge interface and not the ethernet interface.

So is this not true?

That might work but it is best practice to put it on the bridge interface.

Thanks a lot Chris, it worked.

Also you may add all of you APs whit an static address under Hotspot / IP Bindings. Less trouble connecting to them.
