Wireguard not able to reconnect from time to time

Hi All,

I am connecting two sites using a Wireguard connection. It usually works, but every now and then the client disconnects and its unable to reconnect until I change the port on the WG Server (and match the Peer settings on client side).

I mean, changing the port is the only way that I figured how to make it work again. Disabling/Re-enabling or restarting those devices did not work for me.

Any idea what could be causing this and/or what could be the solution to allow the remote site to connect again?

Both, client and Server Devices are MikroTik devices running the latest available firmware.

Suggest ensuring you are not using old version 7 firmware, this was fixed by 7.11 something…
If you are using 7.12 or 7.13 then its a problem with your config.

That is actually great news. Because I am fighting with this since WG became available on MikroTik devices by trying lot of nonsense. Since I was upgrading to 7.13 today and I no longer remember from which version (though I think I was already on something like 7.11, but it happened today again).

Let’s see then.

Yup should work for you and if it doesnt then need to see config.
/export file=anynamwyouwish ( minus router serial number, any public WANIP information keys etc.).

And client device wireguard setttings…

This problem still occurs (exactly the same behavior - changing port = resurrected interface)

Did you try 7.17 or 7.18 as well>
