How can I setup my wireless card on my RB333 to act transparently so that all computer that use the wireless can use netbios names for resolution such as being able to ping our server by name ie “server” and be able to see shares and printers without problems. I would love my wireless clients to be on the same subnet.

Wireless? what do I set this to 10.9.158.1? … if I set to something like 192.168.1.1 I have routing of netbios issues.
Must I use WINS? or program by hand every hosts file on every wireless PC on the network
I am trying to set it up as an Access Point for laptops.
Basically Wireless is for the laptops
the LAN of the MT connects to my LAN switch which has other workstations and servers.
The problem is that if the wireless is say 10.10.1.x and my LAN is 192.168.x.x then the wireless clients can see the server and other workstations over IP only, no netbios or windows name resolution.
A regular Wireless AP is transparent where the laptops done even see it. They think they are directly connected to the LAN the server and stations are on.
You just need to create a bridge and add both the wireless interface and the ether1 interface to the bridge. Make sure you don’t have any routing/nat/dhcp running on the 333
Create a bridge interface and then add your ethernet and wireless interfaces you want bridged. Check your config to make sure you will not have 2 DHCP servers running on the same lan.
Well thankyou so much. After trying out the PDF I was able to successfully make a bridge and make a Transparent Wireless AP for my netowrk. Name resolution went through excellent and now all laptops can access any device on the network with no problems.
I was hopeing for a way to combine making the Transparent Wireless AP and the Firewall all on one RB333. Looks like that is not possible. One RB333 must be the Wireless AP and another the firewall.
