Hi
I would like to authenticate wireless using username, password. I read that I can use user-manager to do so, but I couldn’t find a good reference on how to do it
I checked
http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/User_Manager/Wireless_Example
but this example a little bit outdated because my routerOs is 5.13 and another thing, I want to authenticate using username, password not using mac addresses
so please what are the steps I need to perform in order to get a wpa2-eap + user manager(as Radius server) up and running
note: user manager is on the same router
Correct me if I am wrong but AFAIK User-Manager does not support any EAP method
try to use freeradius instead
Or Hotspot
Dear Mikrotik,
If you could put such a function on the road map for future releases, I would be extremely happy!
EAP-TLS is a feature I think, and perhaps some people with me, are missing in the Mikrotik routerboards OS.
Problem is that using the Hotspot (and user manager if you want) does not support authentication on the wireless edge.
Each customer needs to have a browser open if they want to have internet access. That’s fine for a regular PC or laptop, but hell on smartphones. And I am not even talking about other wireless devices customers bring in to connect.
Would this be possible in the near future?
Or is there a second solution i could buy for this?
I personally believe EAP-TLS is a game-changer for the Mikrotik products.
Perhaps only support this function on the higher levels of Router OS…
At the moment I am using a RB1100AHx2. A lot of power but unfortunately, I have to put a PC next to it for radius functionality. And that breaks down the whole concept of a ‘single box solution’, not to mention the MTBF of the PC.
Perhaps someone can be so kind to advise me a hardware / embedded radius solution that can support this kind of wireless solutions?
Preferably a small hardware box that I can ‘duck tape’ to the RouterBoard device?
Hoping for a reaction from other members / developers…

might be worth looking at zeroshell running on an ALIX board:
http://www.zeroshell.net/eng/
Nick.
yes Dear.I So suggest Zeroshell.
U can Use .1X for wireless user by ZeroShell.
Also u can Use zero Shell for hotspot or ppp or ect radius
zero shell support QOS for client.
Is very good
there was a good presentation at last MUM in Mailand how to use zeroshell for WPA-Enterprise
