Wireless Bridge Mode... a little confused.

Hello,

I’m currently having a Wifi network provided by Motorola (HQ) and Fortinet (Remote Site) - WPA2 2.4Ghz

Sometime (like right now), I wish to give access wirelessly (temporary for the most of time, until I’m getting a network cable) to my PLC on the network, but they do not work Wirelessly.

I think that if I buy a SXT 5HPnD, I could connect it to the Wireless network and then provide network to a device or switch.

I found this, that is almost what I want : http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Connect_to_an_Available_Wireless_Network , but I’m a bit confused.

I have a RB2011UiAS at home, so I checked if I could find what it’s in the tutorial. Maybe that’s becose I do not have Wireless interface on it, but I can’t find anything about “Stations” mode and stuff. v6 is a bit different in display.

Also, I would like it just to be a “wireless switch”, I mean, no DHCP Server, no NAT or whatever. I want it to act like a switch, but wireless. Is this possible?

Hope I’m clear!

Thanks!

Hmm, the idea is not clear to me. If your device has no wireless card in it, then the Wireless setup must be done in the SXT device, not in the RB2011. The settings will not be there, if the wireless card is not installed.

Sorry to confuse you, I looked into my RB2011 to see the settings (seems to be the same in all RouterOS?). I will buy a SXT to do the configuration.

If you would post a sketch of your desired setup, we would help you to configure it. Let us know when you need some help.

Like this… (sorry, I only have SnagIT to do it right now).

I wish that the PLC connect to the “LAN” network, like it was in the LAN, but connected by a WPA2 WiFi already available.

PLC would have an IP in the same range as the LAN.

[FORTINET]-[LAN]-[WIFI] ~~~~ [SXT]-[LAN]-[PLC]

Got an idea?

I-am clear?

I found I could use WDS connected to my actual network?

well… Linksys wes610n did what I want.
