I have a mAP lite set up in quickset as PTP Bridge CPE. It is connecting to a Ubiquiti Unifi Access Point. I would imagine that it would just use its wlan1 interface to connect to my main AP, then bridge ether1 to wlan1. That’s what the configuration says it is doing. I have another similar set up with a hAP connected using the quickset PTP Bridge CPE to a unifi AP, that is working.
The problem is that my wired device (a printer) doesn’t grab a DHCP address when connected to ether1. When I set it to a static IP, it can get to the main network and even ping out to Google. Under my main routers ARP table it is showing both IPs (mAP lite and printer) as having the same MAC address, the wlan1 interface one. Because if this, I can’t really get to the printer. Airprint is broken.
WDS is set to Dynamic and the bridge is set to bridge1 under the WDS tab.
What am I doing wrong? Let me know if I need to post any more details about my configuration.
Full transparent WiFi bridging does not work cross-platform.
Both MikroTik and Ubiquiti have their proprietary solution.
I think you need to get a MikroTik accesspoint or a Ubiquiti client device to get it working.
Bridging client over WiFi is mikrotik proprietary solution. Either use mikrotik on ap side of the bridge or use wds link on both sides instead of the bridge client. It might work. Read the wireless modes documentation and use cases first.
At least we agree
In Ubiquiti-Ubiquiti connections it works when WDS is selected but in my experience not in connection with MikroTik, they apparently use a different solution.
I have seen others trying to solve the same problem apparently with Apple access point. Also did not work.
Thank you for your responses. I was worried about that being the problem. I wonder how my cheap tp-link does this. They do mangle the first 6 characters of the MAC address to be their own company MAC address, but I don’t care about that. I only care that the station doesn’t interfere with mDNS.
The weird thing is that I have this exact problem solved in my main office with the hAP. PTP Bridge CPE. I can get from the main network to the station and to the printer just fine. Also using unifi there as well.
