Hi guys, is it possible a mikrotik hex rb750gr3 to be a controller of an external access point(tplink, comfast or any)?
Compare to Haplite there’s an integrated wlan interface in it.
First of all, no, hEX does not have a built-in wireless interface.
Yes, it can work as a controller for other AP devices, but they all must be MikroTik brand.
Yes I have some sites using the GR3 as a shaper and non-local-forward CAPSMAN controller for up to 15 wAPAC and cAPAC devices. It’s fiiiiine.

See this ‘official’ Mikrotik video tutorial on CAPsMAN: MikroTips: managing many access points with CAPsMAN
Yes I use the RB750gr3 Hex as a router and capsman controller in a few places, for Mikrotik APs. I like it because it’s quite fast. Also it has the SD slot for routeros images for capsman upgrade policy.
