Wireless Controller

Hello,

is this feature “http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:Wireless_Controller#Overview” in ROS 6 completely implemented?

Regards

It is not available for public yet

Hello,

thanks for your reply. Can you give us some details? Maybe a timeframe? A way to test this, we have to roll out Access Points, maybe Wireless Controller feature can help us…

Regards

There are many of us waiting for this feature and I guess MikroTik management knows that this is important from business point of view (tens of devices sold to one location in one batch). I have many clients interested in covering whole building with WiFi but they do not want to pay +1000$ for just-a-controller and 300$ for every thin Access Point (radio and ethernet port  ) device.
I think that MikroTik will finish polishing v6 and then they will introduce controller functionality. We have to wait patiently…

Hi!
any news??

How does one get to test this feature?

I get so excited when this topic gets asked about. I check weekly in the development version to see if its available

bump … kick … whatever …

any news on this? …

I have no clue but I would speculate that it comes in v7.

I hope I’m wrong though.

I too think this will be in v7.

And to add a little more speculation, I think v7 beta and the new features will be announced at US MUM.

I hope you are wrong too… v7 is at least 2 years away… + the time to kill all the bugs with new version… I can’t wait that long, I risk loosing customers to competition. :open_mouth:

I hope they do give us a surprise. Maybe even a demo

Is there a way to get unsupported 6.x powerpc and mipsbe WLC package?

We also waiting for MT Wireless Controller for 2 years …
We need it asap!
For our customers we buy UniFi, but still waiting for MT solution.
Synergy Ubnt and MT will be a haven for us.

Hi . My name is Piotr , and i am from poland. I read today about wlc functionality in routeros. do you know when this functionality be available ?
Best regards
Piotr

I am looking forward for controller either, except that I am afraid that my current Mikrotik infrastructure*) won’t be upgradable to the version I may need :frowning:

I’m starting to take the “controller promise” for a little dirty business trick to
a) attract people so they keep buying Mk
b) when WLAN controller is released, they have to replace the whole infrastructure or upgrade a mass of licenses.

That’s why I am considering move to Ubiquiti

Maybe I am too suspicious? Maybe it is all just behind the corner?

*) almost 100 units upgradable just to to version 6, purchased with foolish idea that in 2013 the controller must come in just months
