Hi everybody,
I’m trying to set up a wireless link compliant to Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, but every time a set the Country in wireless proprieties an error windows is displayed:
“Couldn’t change interface - bad band and/or channel, see “wireless info” for supported channels”.
Is there a problem with the wireless card?
What frequency you run on your link? I gues 5Ghz band, Saudi Arabia don’t support the 5ghz band by regulatory driver. If u wanna use it, leave Country to no_country_set
Saudi Arabia permits WLAN services on 5GHz (Cisco claim on channels 100,104,108,112,116 132,136,140 149,153,157,161) subject to some conditions
See also http://www.volny.cz/horvitz/os-info/saudi.html and more importantly from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s National Frequency Plan itself… http://www.citc.gov.sa/English/RulesandSystems/Bylaws/Documents/SM%20002%20E-NFP.pdf
See page 31 and 53.
See National Footnote 01 : “The following bands can also be used for Short Range Devices (SRD) that are subject to CITC conditions” “5470 – 5875 MHz”
See National Footnote 04 : “Usages of these Bands do not require special authorization by CITC” “5725-5875 MHz”
See National Footnote 05 : " This band is license exempted provided that transmitters comply with CITC Guidelines for such exemption. Otherwise relevant frequency assignments should be obtained" “5150-5250 MHz” “5250-5255 MHz” “5255-5350 MHz” and “5725-5830 MHz”
