I need to connect 3 outdoor PoE cameras around a car park to a 80-meters distant building.
I can select cameras to comply with 802.3af (ie no 802.3at) but I’m not very enthusiast to use WiFi cameras (though these are much simpler to install, the choice is much limited).
On this building, I’m planning to install on the outdoor side of a wall, an AP pointed to the different cameras (all cameras are within a 20 degrees sector).
At the moment, I’m focusing on the camera side where I would daisy chain a Wireless CPE to a downstream PoE Camera.
I would be very pleased if a single Mikrotik device could fulfill the requirements bellow. Does such device exist ? If negative, what would you suggest instead ?
compliant with outdoor use
connect a wireless uplink (I’m voluntarily using wireless instead of WiFi to include a broader solution set)
(No PoE out, but it includes an injector, so you could use an Y cable with 5.5/2.1 jack to power the camera, the wAP is compatible with both 24V passive and 48V active and passive).
But a kit (and the single added devices) are not the cheapest, and you probably need a fraction of the theoretical gigtabit speed/bandwidth it is capable of.
And the 6O GHz shouild guarantee less interferences.
A SXTsq Lite5 would cost a fraction of that and should be more than adequate to stream a single camera.
Which camera models do you plan to use? (i.e. 24V passive of 48V 802.3/af or at)
Where (relative to the CPE and camera) is the power supply?
Maybe you can use the cheapest CPE (SXTsq Lite5) and add a GPERx4: https://mikrotik.com/product/gperx4
capable of splitting a PoE source to the camera and to the CPE.
With this setup, as long as the camera and CPE use the same PoE kind you might have more choices of CPE's.
You would seemingly need 802.3 bt as power source for the Gperx4, see: Can be GPERx6 powered by 802.3at?
