I have noticed that if you uninstall “wireless-fp” package (by default it comes disabled and “wireless” package enabled) after rebooting you wont even have any wireless package working, as “wireless” package turns disabled.
Then if you re-enable it, reboot… just the same, still remains disabled.
If you try to uninstall it too, reboot, and reinstall “wireless” package, wont work too… you get a message in log saying its already installed.
Here a screenshot… there might be a problem with the factory (inside) name of this package. Can anyone confirm?
(the only solution I found is netinstall again, then if I do the same, the problem reappears)
The package is not installed… look the other windows you see there is no wireless nor wireless-fp packages installed and after rebooting tryig to install it, gives the log error about that is already installed…
I think you both misunderstand each other.
What sebadamus is trying to say (As I read it) is that you would suspect that the package would be installed because its package is uploaded to the routerboard.
But the log file clearly indicates it could not get installed because it is already installed. Which in turn is clearly not the case if you look at the packages list in the screenshot.
So there is something wrong there.
What normis could try to tell is to reboot the router once, without the package uploaded.
Then see what happens with the wireless.
Normis, sorry I didnt explaing correctly, but Rudios translate myself :-p
Normis, I also did what you told… I remove the package from files list, reboot… then there is absolutely no wireless, nor wireless-fp installed! so then if I copy the wireless package to the router, and then reboot… the problem I told reapears.
Its also strange, that there is no “wireless-fp” package included in all_packages-mipsbe-6.17.zip, should there be a “wireless-fp” package?
[I could find wireless-fp its only in the torr_ent complete download, but havent tried reinstalling it only]
If not, the only way to recovery this situation is netinstalling… and then having in mind this problem, not to delete this “wireless-fp” (default disabled) package because if you do, it deletes wireless feature (no more wireless interface until netinstalling again)
This happened to me since “wireless-fp” package appeared in 6.15 or 6.16 I think… with at least 3 RB751U-2HnD
I cannot say that what I write below could be the reason, just take it in account and consider.
I had similar problems with removing packages very long time ago. Since then I don’t use the big upgrade package. I always download the full package zip file, extract all packages, mark selected that I want to install and paste them into the winbox. Then reboot. The same with netinstall if necessary. And I don’t use the check for updates button.
All packages can be freely installed or unistalled individually as I want.
