I read now a pretty amount of Mikrotik docs and wiki’s and searched on this board, but I don’t seem to have found an answer to that. Maybe someone can help?
I own a Cafeteria and we’d like to do traffic shaping by throttle bandwidth This means, we are looking for a bandwidth management (Miktrotik router for example) which can limit the IP bandwidth (let’s say 100kb to 10MBit/sec) after this IP hit a certain period limit bandwidth (example: 1000MB).
That is able to detect it and then enforce policy to throttle the bandwidth for that user/device until a certain time before resetting it or something
Is RouterOS or Routerboard able to do this function?
Its very simple what you need is to use mikrotik capive portal with a radius software.so radius server you can make a radius group lets call it 1mb plan whereby if a customer reaches his 1gb quota he’s throttled to your desired speed.check out daloradius for this
so all you need is an extra PC/server to set up this functionally?
i am curios do the mikrotik router stand alone can do this function?
i have come across this research,it can be set-timing by burst limit according for to the profile (IP)
i am curios can it be setting up by range group or per IP only?
Thank you for your post, I look for such article along time, today i find it finally!
but i am abit confuse ,Mikrotik router has the extension packages that is called “User Manager”
so to install the user manager to the radius server (PC) for manage the user manager bandwidth management?
maybe you can give me some advise.
i own 5 cafeteria which over some states. if it possible which i set up a Server/PC for bandwidth management
where 5 of my branches connected to this server and manage by it.( only 1 range DCHP IP)
so it would save up some costs.not need install a server/PC by per branch.
hey
u can use mikrotik user manager as a radius server . there is no need for any pc or extra costing !
but first u should check license lvl of your device …
