I’m reading the Mikrotik Manual but still do no have a really good understanding of this.
Does anyone use this configuration option? OR can anyone give me a good example of when you may want to use this?
This is a text field to help you group your wireless devices. You can then use access list and connect list, to limit where your devies connect, based on their “area” or location. So for example, enter “hillside” for some devices, then enter “seaside” for some other device, and in the AP settings, limit which devices must connect to which AP, in case some client works better at a specific AP device, but you want the same SSID.
The manual actually says the same “Identifies group of wireless networks. This value is announced by AP, and can be matched in connect-list by area-prefix. This is a proprietary extension.”
