Trying to define some wireless channels on point to point link with 2 SXTsq 5 ac with fw: 6.42rc39 (testing) license L3.
I want to create 80mhz only(not fallback to 40/20 because of frequency and rate flapping-i have 100m wireless p2p link with signal -40 and better) channel with standard frequency, . When i try to apply it, i will get error that channel i am creating is not standard.
I have also tried to create 80mhz channel with freq. 5530 and 5290 and i also got this error msg.40MHz channel is possible to create.
Second thing- How are MCS rates defined in routerOS for AC? i see only mcs0-mcs23 but AC has only mcs0-mcs9 with 1,2 or 3 spatial streams.
May you give me an explanation of this?
I want to force-use 80MHz channel and MCS 7 with 2 spatial streams.
How i should do that?
Is needed to upgrade license on AP device? I may update it to L4 but i think that 80MHz channel in 802.11ac IS STANDARD. I do not want to spend 30$ license on 45$ device and i really do not need to operate it in AP bridge mode(together 75$-price of nanobeam ac 16)…
Will i have to use UBNT radios and mikrotik only for routing? Or migrate to ubnt absolutelly?(i really dislike their airos)
Real speed of this link on mikrotik is 50-60MBit, on ubnt nanobeam AC16 i got 350-400, tested with BTest over 2pieces of 960PGS on each end with same conditions, frequencies etc…
Yes…it is not polite to make long links on 80ghz. I have 2 pieces of this 80 GHz cra…ehm “short distance radio” in drawer(150€). it is not working on this distance in my situation. I have a hospital 150m behind station. I have counted radios on roof (about 160 pieces) and one friend came to me with spectral analyser which went crazy after switched on.
And using 80 mhz on this short distance IS polite in situation, where EVERYBODY use it…
and, i still dont have answer to my first and second question.
I really do not want to polute 5ghz. Most of my wireless are 10/20MHz. but i need to use this for fast uplink…80ghz will not connect. And, i need to use small radio- nothing bigger than 15x15cm so there is not possible to use dish.
It was first thing that i tried…so i have 2 60ghz radios in drawer-had to replace them with other because this link was not working- because the 60GHz space is a total mess here.(exact distance is 135m)
I don’t believe that,
60 GHz device are really new!
Just Ignite Metrolinq is „cheap“ (1000€ per link)
60 GHz spectrum is more then clean!
And when it is used, the fresnel zone is about laser beam, so there not much interference
And if there are so much antennas then I believe you are not able to realize your wanted speed with 5 GHz!
We have 60Ghz shots with 700m in city from Airport Tower to Hospital, works with 650mBit TCP!
After uprading to new rOS 60ghz link works, but it has poor signal-from 30 in bad weather to 40-50 normally. speed and latency are much better than on 5ghz and link will not drop even in thunderstorm…(promised duplex gigabit is impossible, working in ca *80-100mbit duplex)
So we have to accustom with mikrotik- they sell unfinished products which you need to upgrade to get promised performance…but you will get it…
