Wireless Mesh Network WISP

Community

Pardon my ignorance from the start…

I was looking to setup a community based WISP based upon a MESH configuration. I have heard that i will get the best reliability and performance as opposed to to many PPP connections bach to the NOC etc

What mikrotick board would be suitable. my understanding is that I need to have 1 card to perform the AP/CPE functionality and is it 2 cards,
1 to connect to the mesh
1 to provide an open connection to be able to extend the mesh network for the next node.
Total 3 cards

Or can you just use 1 to do both connect & extend Total 2 cards ??

Are both config possible and just trade offs on reliability or am i overcooking the architecture ??

What type of range can you expect to get in not CBD but average neighbourhood congestion, 200-300 meters per MESH AP or could you extend this out to 500meters reliably ??

In reality would IPAD,laptop device be able to connect to the MESH AP point without having to create a MESH AP for every client ? (i know this is limited to the 40mw client device) is 200meters realistic or is this less in real world IPAD situations.

If I was using 16dbi panel antennas with NLOS what would be a realistic distance I could get between MESH ap nodes & what would the coresponding LOS distance be ??

Are there any docs/blogs/books that goes over the basics of setting up this type of service. I have the the radius server & other s/w lined up to preform the service and the infrastructure is my main concern.

I know i have gone over a lot of questions and I am really only after educated guess’s as real world bring into many unmeasurable factors that cant be taken into account etc

Thanks In Advance
