Wireless Registration Table only shows first 16 characters of radio-name

Hello and thank you for taking the time,

I’ve got a BaseBox5 running v6.41.1 with 22 clients. Their radio-names vary in length based on client however on the AP each registration’s radio-name is only showing 16 characters and cuts the rest of the string off. I have other mipsbe architecture type boards running v6.41.1 that do not have this problem and show 25+ characters for radio-names in the registration table. Anyone have any idea what may be causing this cut-off?

Thanks,

O1DMBFan

If you are talking about terminal then terminal size can influence how wide are columns.

Thanks for your reply,
I’m using WinBox v3.11 and seeing this issue under Wireless>Registration Table Tab.

Adjust the column size in registration table window.

Thanks for the reply,
I wish it was that simple. See attached:

try ip neighbor

network devices names are meant to be brief

networking devices are not the place to storage all you client information use ms-excel or a software to do that

Radio names are meant to store whatever we want. Let’s not discuss “what to store in radio-names” but instead discuss what may be causing RouterOS to not display this information.

I have hundreds of AP’s that display “long” CPE names properly, we use that information to auto-script many different functions. As stated before, all other routers are capable of displaying 25+ characters. Any insight on why it’s not being displayed properly would be very much appreciated. I’m not looking for “tips” on what to store in the radio-name.

FYI - Here’s an example of what the CPE Radio Name is set to:
^BCarpenter - RB911-23@V23

Thanks!

There is a difference when using 802.11 or nv2 wireless protocol. nv2 allows a longer radio name

Thank you! That makes sense. I appreciate the help.

Thanks folks!
