Hi, I have a project to build a wireless network for an apartment block of 26 apartments (picture bellow), the area of the apartment block is about 4000m2 and the main purpose of the network is the internet (50/10Mbit) for guest, the maximum number of concurrent connection to the network is about 120 devices. Unfortunately there are no wired network so the internal installation of AP is not possible, I planned to use the existing infrastructure of the surveillance camera (picture bellow marked as AP…) where it is already threaded a optic cable and power supply.
My plan is to buy 4 x Mikrotik mANTBox 15s as APs devices and connect to an Mikrotik CRS212-1G-10S-1S+IN.
Can someone suggest if mANTBox 15s are good for this purpose, and whether it is enough only four of these devices to cover the number of users?
Thanks in advance

It will not be easy. It is not only the power you give TO the clients, they should be able to send the data BACK to you. And for example coated windows are killing for the 2,4 GHz band.
Besides, do the apartments have no infrastructure at all? For example, do they have cable TV? If yes, you can use MoCa equipment to provide Ethernet over coaxial cable (Layer 1). It works up to 170 Mbps and is very stable.
I understand, that it is “easier” and cheaper to setup the antenna’s on the poles, but it can be a big disappointment, when it does not work.
besides, the mAnt box 15 is passive antenna ONLY. Where is your radio?
There is no wired infrastructure at all, but also for two weeks is expected the first arrival of guests, so digging is not an option. ![]()
The next week I’m going to set up the antennas and then I will report how did it go. So far, tests have shown encouraging results… ![]()
mANT 15s is a passive antenna but mANTBox 15s is integrated sector antenna with routerborad.
Hi, sorry for my late update, but now I can share my experience. The equipment I used was 1 x RB3011UiAS-RM , 6 x RBSXTG-2HnD, 2 x RB921GS-5HPacD-19S. In the picture bellow is now shown the real situation, 2.4Ghz APs are RBSXTG-2HnD and 5Ghz APs are RB921GS-5HPacD-19S. All APs are connected to CAPsMan which is installed on RB3011UiAS-RM. The situation with 2.4Ghz signal is great and practically the entire resort is covered with wireless. With the 5Ghz the signal indoor is much lower than 2.4 and unfortunately Mikrotik doesn’t have “Band Steering” like competition so if the client is indoor, in most case the client chose the 2.4Ghz signal. Another technology I miss is wireless roaming, the solution proposed to drop client when the signal is bellow certain value didn’t proven especially with iPhones, Mikrotik rely need to implement some similar technology.
In the end I am satisfied with the result and it works with the purpose that has.
Thans for help.

i offer you use from Metal 52SHPac
Hi, at a time when I needed to implement Metal was not available immediately and I had to quickly decide and install the equipment.
Powerful radio is not an answer. WiFi works in both directions. To much power with so many AP and walls on the signal path will make a mess.
If this are apartments I will sugest to put AP inside the building. Maybe you can use electric cables and create PowerLine network? Maybe there is cooper TV network inside?
As I wrote in previous posts, there is no wired infrastructure through which I could connect wireless in the apartments even an option over powerline is not an option because each apartment has its own electrical box. Drilling and digging to set the cables wasn’t an option, because I was invited to set up a wireless network when all the rough work was completed. I know it’s not an ideal solution but it works, and at the moment 80+ clients are connected to the network without problems.
Good that you chose a reasonably powerful router instead of the CRS. I would probably have suggested a CCR1009 but RB3011 is good as well.
Its too difficult to manage without wire infrastructure. Now the only way to manage this is to utilize the powerful routers of 5000MGHZ. It will solve your problems in few hours. Although its bit costly but according to your condition its the only solution that i know.
