Wireless Speed Problems

Hi Everyone,

i can not seem to get any speed faster than about 12 Mbps out of my RB600 with a Atheros AR5413
to do the testing i have placed my laptop about 2 meters away from the antenna and i have reset all the wireless settings back to default except Security it is currently running wpa2 psk.
does anyone have any ideas on how i can fix this so i can get full speeds.

Also just tested it without any security same problem.

It could be your laptop’s wireless card. Check it’s settings.

its not my laptop.
my laptop gets full 54 and i have tested it with another laptop also.

my next test was two mikrotiks using the Bandwidth Tester on the mk’s

RB600 & RB532

rb600 to rb532
Rx: 22 Mbps
Tx: 14 Mbps
Both: Tx = 9.6 Rx = 7.6

that is very poor for two 54 Mbps cards.

any help would be great.

the problem you are discussing is very hard to describe to understand by the means of these forum because as you can understand that the there is no configuration fault in the scenario as well as there is no technical problems you are facing in your product hence you are getting problem from the location or in the condition term in which you had install your device so by sense you should read some wireless material to get out these problem

What is your signal strength? Go to the registration tables, what is the CCQ? Too strong a signal will cause all kinds of issues. What version of ROS?

from my lounge room with a few walls in the way the
CCQ = 96-100%
ROS = RB600 Running 4.3
Signal Strength = -74
Signal To Noise = 18

sitting about 3 feet away

CCQ = 100
Signal = -41
Signal To Noise = 59

how did you test? what did you do to measure the speed? you can’t get 54Mbit with any device, it’s “air rate” for download it’s technologically impossible to achieve anyway.

file transfer, what kinda speeds should i expect ?

30-35Mbit one direction UDP is more realistic. This is not software related, it’s normal for 54Mbit 802.11g connection.

yeah but im not even getting that.
oh i also did the test with another mikrotik using bw test server
